Chat Topic: Social Media Fundamentals for Companies
Social media has been around since the early 2000’s and has been growing steadily ever since with the U.S. having the highest penetration rates worldwide.
When it comes to Social Media, there are a few basic considerations that should be made, and that is what this Twitter chat covers.
Twitter Chat Questions
Q1. What content should you share on your social media networks?
It is not always easy to come up with new content that your customers will enjoy and share with their friends, but it is the responsibility of the content producer (oftentimes, the social media specialist) to come up with creative content for their customers and leads. The best way to do this is to think about what your customers would want to post about.
Q2. What content should you share on social media networks?
The best posts not only share what we’re doing, but they also provide social currency.
For example, quality images are key to keep your fans engaged. Images are what people will look at first, so if your images are bad, you’ll lose their attention. You should also post content that is relevant to your followers.
Q3. How often do you post on each social media platform that you are using?
Many social media users are posting too often on social media. Posting too often can come off as spammy to the person being buzzed by the posts.
Look for a happy medium that intersects with your business realities to be effective in managing your company’s social media (limited time, budget and staff) and how often you want to get seen.
The key is consistency.
Q4. When is the best time to post?
The best time to post on social media typically depends on the size of your company and the type of business you have.
For example, if you have a small business that offers a service, it would be best to post during your normal business hours.
If you have a larger company that offers a product, it’s best to post during the hours when customers are typically thinking about purchasing that product or service. That being said, posting on social media can be tricky, because if you have an online store, the customers are typically thinking about buying that product or service at any time.
Q5. How do you attract followers on social media?
Attracting followers on social media is not an easy task. It can be time consuming and is often an up hill battle when you are just getting started. Some of the most important factors in getting followers are authenticity, consistency, and relevance.
Q6. How do you measure success in social media?
Successful social media strategies are goal-oriented while being agile and measurable.
Social media goals may be sales goals, engagement goals, or brand awareness goals. Social media goals are also directional, they are long-term goals or short-term goals.
Short-term goals are often to increase brand awareness, likes, shares, and other social engagement metrics.
Long-term social media success requires a strategy that aligns with your company’s mission.
